Here’s a video of me solving the Rubik’s Cube in 37 seconds. The slow start turned into a fast finish! If I feel like I’m fast on the cube, I can have a cup of good coffee and it helps! Well, at least it seems to me like it does. My personal best is 30 seconds flat with a fumble. So I can beat 30 seconds using the layers method if I try! I taught myself the F2L and haven’t got it to speed yet, but it will someday. Then I’ll get into the teens! So, if you’ve already had your coffee today, go ahead and watch this and see if you can keep up!
Enjoy!

A few videos of the most recent activity here on the Big Island of Hawaii. A fountain errupting 150 ft most recently. I can’t see anything from this part of the island, and yesterday the sky was very clear looking west to the ocean. Kilauea has been errupting constantly since 1983.
I’m adding some links on the side for the USGS earthquakes & USGS volcanos websites. For easy furture access.
Oh look, it’s a banana and some vanilla beans!

While attending the Coffeefest 2008 at the Waikoloa Hilton on the Big Island. I saw this bird while waiting on the tram. Shot it through the glass and it came out pretty good I thought! Using an Olympus sp-570uz in the auto setting. The colors in the water reflection were a nice touch too. Unable to identify it as a native Hawaiian bird, I can’t find the name of this bird. If you can identify it, please let us know. Thanks!
Our new Favicon! It’s blue, as in the special mountain, and it’s a coffee mug, naturally. Found in the upper left hand corner of the screen, in the address bar. Enjoy!

Shown above is the finished sandwich, below is the prep.
Shown above is what was used to prepare the sandwich. 2 veggie patties (these are morningstar grillers), chopped garlic, diced tomatoes, diced red peppers, salad ( Cafe Salading: containing one or more of the following; Arugula, Lettuces, Mizuna, Radicchio, Endive Chard, Tatsoi, & Mustard ), tumeric, dijon mustard, and olive oil. I forgot to include in this picture, 1 slice of swiss cheese cut in half. After watching the Food network channel's Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives episode which showed a Diner in California that sells Falafels & other middle eastern food I decided to make something the next day. Not having any falafel patties to make, I pulled out some veggie patties. There's no tahini sauce here either. To make a long story short, the tv show sure got my tastebuds working overtime. If you're looking for a tasty healthy sandwich, this is plenty filling and very delicious! Enjoy!

May 16, 1960 - The first working laser was demonstrated by Theodore Maiman at Hughes Research Laboratories. There are lasers used in every home in the United States today. Powering all disc players (dvd & cd). What does our future hold for these devices? Although laser weapons are bukly and expensive to produce, there is another laser device which might make it into our kitchen! Given enough power, say 1.21 gigawatts, a laser could boil water in less than one second. A demonstration of a laboratory device doing just that was found in youtube. Take a look…
Here’s our first request, this one goes out to Uncle Tony.
